Township Trustee

Angel Valentín

Angel Valentín graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. Angel has with non-profits in our community, including Food Finders Food Bank and Lafayette Urban Ministry. He has also interned in the U.S. Congress with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, and has worked with the Wesley Foundation at Purdue University. He was appointed to the Township Board on August 2020, and served as the Board President from January 2021 until his appointment as Township Trustee in January 2022.

Board Members

Ian Pytlarz - Board President

Ian and his wife have lived in Wabash Township for over a decade and had their first child in early 2021. Ian works at Purdue University as Lead Data Scientist and has degrees in Business and Statistics/Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon and Purdue. A self-described nerd, Ian enjoys playing board games in his spare time and has a collection of nearly 300. He was appointed to the Township Board in February 2022, and serves the role of Board President.

Caroline Kester - Board Secretary

Caroline is looking forward in 2023 to growing into her new position as a Wabash Township Board Member, serving as the Board Secretary. Caroline has worked as a Political Intern for Chris Campbell’s successful reelection campaign and is also currently working as an Assistant Project Manager on Erin Easter’s Mayoral campaign. She is a recent graduate of Purdue University with her B.S.E. in Multidisciplinary Engineering. In November 2022, she was awarded Tree Lafayette’s Volunteer of the Year Award, a reflection of her commitment to public service for her efforts regularly volunteering with the organization.

David Tate - Board Member

David Tate, his wife Maureen, and his son Ryan are longtime residents of the community. David retired from Purdue University, where he was the Director of Medical Laboratory and Forensic Sciences, as well as a Hovde Outstanding Faculty Fellow. He is the chaplain for the Wabash Township Fire Department, the Lafayette Fire Department, and the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department. A devout Catholic, he is also active with the Knights of Columbus. He was appointed to the Township Board in April 2021, and has been been serving as Board Secretary since February 2022.
